MATERIAL + PLACE

We Are Shaped by What We Build

The character of a place comes from the hands that give it shape. The story of a people is shaped by what they have on hand.

The built world is not background; it is biography. Every material — whether clay, concrete, or corrugated metal — carries the memory of its origin and the mark of its maker. The work gathered here explores how the tangible world becomes the site of something intangible: that feeling of meaning embedded in physical space, which we call place.

This practice is an act of attention. We listen for the music of materials, read the stories embedded in walls, and find narratives in the land. What we collect are artifacts along the way.
